My Story
My story begins in 2003 when my mother passed away and I became severely depressed and no longer felt the importance of living. My life then consisted of sitting, watching TV and eating unhealthy. I became unable to do anything I used to do. In January, 2008 after spending 7 days in the hospital, I realized that I needed to lose weight for my health as I was always short of breath. For the next year I tried endless diets and tried to exercise but was fighting a losing battle of constant pain and frustration.
My sister and neice joined Curves and talked me into giving Curves a chance to help me. So on March 20, 2009, I did just that. I was greeted by the owner,Martha, who sat me down and listened to the story of my battle of being overweight. I was afraid I would not be able to use any of the exercise machines. But Martha said...
"Yes you can, I will help you."
The next two weeks Martha was there and had to help me on and off each of the 14 machines. My third week, I was quite surprised as I no longer needed that help because I could do it by myself! As the weeks went by my life began changing as the inches and weight fell off. I weighed 315 in March and in June I had lost 6 1/2 inches and 18 pounds.
Since joining Curves, I can breathe better, get around better, have more endurance, more self esteem and confidence in myself. I was fearful of losing my life before Curves and I feel like Curves has given my back my life. I have will power that I never had before.
When I look back, I am amazed how far I have come. I have wonderful family and friends who give me support and encouragement but the biggest support and encouragement comes from the wonderful staff at Curves. I want to give thanks to all the staff at Curves for the encouragement, care and hospitality I am shown everytime I walk in the door. I am always greeted with a smile and hello. After my workout is complete and I head out the door, I receive a pat on the back and get told " Great job..See you next time!" Curves is my lifesaver and I could never have made it this far without the staff giving me all they have. THANK YOU CURVES FOR GIVING ME BACK MY LIFE AND THE WILL TO LIVE!
