My Story
I started Curves over a year ago.
I started initially to lose weight. I haven't lost a lot of weight, but I have lost a few pounds and a couple inches. My story is more than just losing weight it's about taking back my life from chronic back pain.
I have herniated disks and degeneration, nerve pain down my left leg. I have spent years trying to manage my pain.
I've seen surgeons, I'm not a candidate for surgery.
I have been to physical therapy.
I have gone to pain management therapy where they gave me monthly steroid shots, doctors who just gave me pain pills. For years now I have taken medications, I took about 8-10 pills a day to help with my pain.
I had to sit and watch my children play because I could'nt keep up or run with them. My Husband had to hear me complain every day how I hurt. I missed out on a lot of things in my life because I was to sore to move or to drowsy from the medications. This left me lonely and sad.
After just a few months at Curves I met some great women, made some friends, which helped lift my spirit. After a few more months went by I started feeling better physically. I started taking less and less medication.
I still ache some days, but have less discomfort. I no longer take any medications, not one pill.
Curves turned out to be not just a place to lose weight but a healing place for me physically and emotionally.
