My Story
I am the second most senior member in our club and proud of it! I am 73 years young and I plan to make it to 100. I believe my lifestyle will assist me in achieving my goal. I workout at Curves 5 mornings a week. I love the 6:00 a.m. workout - it gets me going for the day. On July 7th I hit my 1000 workout mark. Curves has helped lower my body fat % to below 30% and I've lost close to a foot in inches. As soon as I get home from Curves I take my 2 dogs for their first of 3 walks. In the summer I spend most of my waking hours in my two gardens - lots of veggies and flowers. I also own two rental properties and need the energy to care for the homes/yards. In the winter I need the strength to shovel my driveway since we do live in a snow belt. From September to June for the past 10 years, I have taken in a student from overseas. I have lucked out and had some wonderful experiences with these young people. I love cooking for them, I love taking care of them and I love exposing them to "new" things by giving them new opportunities. In my younger years I did alot of downhill skiing and hiking/climbing. I was also an Operating Room (OR) nurse for over 40 years. I've been married for 43 years (to the same man) and had my children later in life. I had my daughter at age 39 and my son at age 41. I now have 3 granddaughters (newborn to 2 1/2 years). I have been fortunate to be the care giver to my eldest granddaughter for about 6 months of her 2 1/2 year life. In 1991 I broke my hip so I have a fair bit of hardware in my hip. It doesn't bend like it used to but it doesn't slow me down either. I get lots of exercise, fresh air and I eat well (lots of butter and eggs). I attribute my health and well-being to me for looking after me, my positive attitude and to Curves for helping me stay strong and energized.
