My Story
My name is Beverly and I live in Benton, Kentucky, near the fabulous Kentucky Lake. I am 74 years old and have a wonderful family and lots of friends that continue to encourage me in my Curves experience. I had never before been on a fitness machine except for a few treadmills. I bought them and would use only a few times; I got so tired of looking at them, bidding me to get on them, so I gave them away! Also, I had never been interested in donning a workout garb and exposing my size 16 body parts that I gracefully (I thought) had hidden under floppy tops and stretch pants.
After being encouraged by both family and church friends, I decided to give myself a special Valentine gift: I joined Curves on February 12th of this year! I have truly amazed myself as well as family and friends: as of July 14th, I have lost 32 lbs, 32.5 inches and 21.46 body fat pounds. I have meet so many nice people, thoroughly enjoy the wonderful coaches at Benton Curves and have mastered the exercise machines that I thought were so formidable. I work out early every morning Monday through Friday with a good friend. I lost my husband a few years ago after battling cancer--I know he would be proud that I have become healthier and taking better care of myself at Curves.
Curves recipes and a diet change have helped immensely. Talking on the circuit and hearing/sharing suggestions has been most helpful. I enjoy the Christian-like, inspirational atmosphere at Curves for Women. Also, I love the Dianne Magazine
Our Curves always has motivational games and contests going on: I have been the winner of the Biggest Loser for the past three months. I requested they not post my name because I felt a little embarrassed with my name being up there for everyone to see One of coaches assured me everyone admired me and it was an honor that I had earned and deserved to be recognized. She always tell me how proud everyone is of me and encourages me not to be so modest! As a matter of fact, that coach asked me to think about entering this contest and gave me confidence to so.
Curves may not be a cure-all for all women, but in my case my hip replacement surgery has been postponed indefinitely, my lymph edema arm (from a mastectomy) has decreased in size and no pain. My energy level has increased unbelievably. I know exercise works especially at Curves.
How happy I am to slip into a size 10-12 pair of jeans, tuck my shirt in, wear a belt and HOORAY for me I dont have to hold my tummy in!

"This is a great story, I know Tyler is proud of you. I was his caregiver a FEW years ago, I know he wouldn't like for me to say I was his babysitter."
