My Story
After having three children, I had a constant struggle with my weight. When I reached the same weight I was when I was nine months pregnant, I got very discouraged. From there it just seemed to keep going up. I tried many different diets and weight loss plans and I would lose some weight, but I could never seem to stick with it and I would gain it all back plus some.

I had heard about Curves, but never pursued getting anymore information. In May 2007, I received a flyer about a fitness study at Curves. That got me motivated to check it out. I did the fitness study and found that I really enjoyed the Curves facility. The concept of a thirty minute workout, three times a week, truly appealed to me. The staff and the members were all very friendly and the times fit perfectly into my schedule.

Unfortunately, I was not very regular in my attendance and then in August 2007, I had a slipped disc and major back pain. I was unable to attend Curves for a few months.

When I finally was able to return, I also joined the Curves Weight Management class. I learned a lot of things in that class. Once again though, I just didnt have the commitment to stick with it.

It was in August 2008 that I really began to evaluate my life. I was overweight, unfit, and unhappy. I knew I needed to make some very serious changes if I truly wanted to be healthy in all aspects of my life. I was at a very low point in my life and it was then that I turned to my faith in God and asked Him to help me. I was still going to Curves, but not regularly. I made a commitment then to go three times a week and make it count. I also joined a group at the local church for accountability with my physical, mental, spiritual and emotional health. Everything began to fall into place and the weight and inches began to fall off. I was also able to deal with a lot of personal issues in my life that I tended to just suppress and not confront.

It has now been nine months and I still go to Curves three times a week and I still attend my accountability group meeting. I am a much more confident and happier person. I feel I have come a long way. I have lost 52.50 inches and 78 pounds. I still have more to go, but I know now that I will be able to accomplish it. I am grateful for the role Curves has played in my becoming a healthier person. I truly enjoy starting my day with the great people at my Deltona Curves.
