My Story
I have had a weight problem since birth. A lot of yoyo dieting through my teen years, into young adulthood and in my adult years. In 2004 I made the decision to have gastric bypass surgery. In April of 2005, at age 60 and at the weight of 354 pounds, the surgery was performed.

As a major part of my rehab, I joined Curves in August of 2005 weighing just under 300 pounds. I continued going to Curves three times a week and by December of 2006 I had lost over 100 pounds and weighed 186 pounds. In the Winter 2007 edition of the Curves Diane Magazine, a story titled A QUICK FIX appears in which my then story and picture is on page 54 and 55.

Now, almost 2 years later, this is the rest of my story. Continuing with my 3 times a week program with Curves, I have lost a total of just under 200 pounds and now weigh 159 pounds. Since my surgery I have lost almost 72 inches total. I now go around the circuit 4 times instead of 3. The Doctor informs me that my original goal of 140 pounds was not healthy for me so I am now working towards a final goal of 150 to 155 pounds. The Doctor still feels that I do not have to have excess skin removed from my waist and stomach area because of my exercise regime at Curves.

As a result of my weight loss through the Curves program I have been able to travel and live a more exciting active life. I can run and play with my Grand Children. Our latest travel plans are a 3 month 12,500 mile round trip motor home adventure to Alaska. I always get my travel pass from my home Curves in Clarence, NY and have visited many different Curves across the country. When sight seeing on our travels, we have been known to stop at Curves to get directions. No matter where we have stopped, the people at Curves have always been friendly and helpful.
