My Story
Fitness has always been important to me. Ive enjoyed aerobics classes for years and know how important strength and weight training is for women of all ages. However, about 5 years ago, I developed arthritis in my knees and despite reducing high impact aerobics, I would leave each workout with aching knees.

I continued with classes and weight training until my knees complained too much. I had to stop all training and underwent physiotherapy. My search began! How to stay in shape without damaging my knees? I tried yoga, working out at home and aquafit but either the workout was unsatisfying or my arthritis would flare up. At age 49, I was not ready to give up my fitness routine.

Last fall, I decided to give Curves a try. I was really missing my cardio workout and the circuit looked like a good combination of strength training combined with keeping up my heart rate. I was very impressed with the SMART workout! Instant feedback on each machine keeps me motivated to work harder to achieve my personal targets. And at the end of each workout, I get a fitness summary that tells me how many calories Ive burned, my performance on each machine, how Ive progressed overall and so much more. Talk about motivation! I find the workout challenging and satisfying. And best of all, since I started this workout 5 months ago, my knees have never been sore. The hydraulic machines are really easy on the joints.

I experimented with Curves to find a workout that I could live withand now I cant live without it. Being strong, fit and pain-free were my goals. However, Ive also lost almost 9 inches in total and am feeling fit and toned. And you cant beat the personal support! Theres always someone there to answer my questions or help me perform better. The stretching circuit is like a yummy dessert at the end of a satisfying meal.

For any women out there facing similar challenges with arthritis " either in the knees or in the back, I urge you to try the Curves workout. You wont be sorry.
