My Story
I first joined Curves because I knew I needed an exercise program to improve my strength and flexibility. I had painful hips and knees, and I didn't want to lose my mobility. As an itinerant teacher going from school to school with materials in tow, being mobile was essential. I also needed something that would fit into my hectic schedule. My second child had just graduated from high school and my youngest was entering her senior year. I am active in my church and work with the high school youth. Curves sounded like what I needed, so I decided to give it a try. Now, seven years later, I just completed my 1000th workout. I participated in the 6 Weeks Solution weight management plan when it was first introduced. I have gone from a size 16 to a size 6 and have maintained that weight for over a year. But one of the biggest benefits became apparent in the face of a crisis last year. In March, 2008, my husband suffered a debilitating stroke. After 5 weeks in the hospital, he came home in a wheelchair. I had to help him get up and down, and three days a week I loaded his wheelchair in the car to take him to physical therapy. Thanks to Curves, I was able to handle the physical demands of this situation with ease! (Thankfully, my husband has regained his ability to walk and the demands aren't as great.) Curves provided an outlet and a support system for me during this trying time, and thanks to travel passes I was able to maintain my workout schedule. I am healthier than I have ever been, and I can't wait to tell everyone I meet that it is all because of Curves.

"I transferred to the North Conyers club about a year and a half ago and Linda's amazing progress was one of the first things I noticed. Whether you realize it or not Linda you are an inspiration to us young women at the club about how to walk beautifully, gracefully and boldly through the changes of Life over the years. Keep it up! "
