My Story
The three most important men in my life are my husband, my son and my Dad. My Dad passed away March 10, 2009. Although it was expected, his death took away a part of who I was. At first I was kept busy helping my Mom and my son deal with their grief. After about a month, I realized I was quickly becoming a hermit, closing myself off from friends and family. In April I learned about a Curves promotion for one month for $30. I thought this might be a way to start getting me out of the house, and since I have always dealt with weight issues, I thought about signing up. Finally on April 13th, I made the move and went to Curves. My next visit was the 15th, but after understanding that it was getting me up and out, I started going every day, Monday-Friday. Near the end of my 30-day test period, I started the debate of joining for real. I hemmed and hawed, wanting to see if I had made any progress in the war of weight. Then I just decided to go ahead and join before the final weigh and measure. So on June 17th I became a real member. I was glad I did. Why? I was getting out every day and feeling much better about myself. My progress for the month was minimal, but I also realized that losing weight was no longer the primary focus for joining. I look forward to going to Curves, sometimes chatting with other women from my neighborhood and sometimes just focusing on developing the energy to get through the day. I even starting getting up earlier to get in a work-out on days when I had plans. I just had my first weigh and measure as a real member. To date I have lost 8.5 inches and 5 pounds and decreased my body fat 1.5%. But more than that, I am rejoining life among the living. Thanks, Curves.

"Robin, I go to Audubon Curves at six in the morning three days a week. It helps jumpstart my day. Good luck in this contest."
