My Story
Every year I go on vacation with my best friend, Lynn. In Feb.2007, we were sitting on the deck at sunset having drinks before dinner & talking about my 50th birthday. I looked down at myself & said "I am going to lose 50 pounds by my 50th birthday" in early December. That gave me 9 months. Lynn told me that she would help & support me through the weight loss process. When we came home, I told my cousin Dawn, who then said "Let's go join Curves". Knowing that I would need some form of exercise while losing weight, I agreed to go with her starting Mar. 2007. We would go in the afternoon when she got home. Lynn would call me & ask how much did you lose? She would make low calorie meals & send me half. My employees worked around my Curves schedule so that I could go (which they still do). Surprise, it didn't take the whole 9 months to lose the weight. I reached the 50 pound mark in Aug. of 2007. By my birthday that year, I was almost 70 pounds lighter. In Feb. of 2008, I reached my goal of 160 lbs. As of June 2009, I have kept the weight off & am down to 145. I started at a size 20. I now wear 8's & 10's. My total weight loss is 92 pounds. I have added 1-3 miles of walking to my regimen 3 days a week. The encouragement from the Curves ladies (Joan, Apple, Carol, Jennifer, Susie, Mary, Debbie)was fantastic. They still point me out to new members when they come in. When I finally reached my goal weight, they put up photographs of me to inspire other people. My health is great & my self-esteem has soared. There are so many more choices available to me now. My customers come in and ask for the other lady because they don't realize I am the other lady. Or should I say the same lady - just smaller. I still go to Curves 3 days a week - even on vacation - except now I ride a bike there when I'm on vacation & walk there when I am home. I wouldn't change what I did for the world & I thank everyone who had a part in encouraging me to keep going to my goal.
