My Story

Five years ago I weighed 325 pounds. I now weigh 125 pounds. I not only lost pounds, but I lost inches " including height inches. Ive been told thats all part of weight loss It has taken me five years to lose the weight. Its been hard work -- all very much worth it!!

It wasnt an embarrassing moment that brought me to the decision of weight loss. In fact it was more of a dare. My daughter who was 14 at the time was going to Weight Watchers. In order for her to get to the meetings she needed a ride, which I provided. Since our finances at the time would not allow for more than one person to pay, I was a non-paying tag-a-long. I did not follow the diet at first, though I knew I needed to. Then my daughter dared to me to try it. So to prove to her that I could, I did. I went into this, not to go the whole nine yards, but as a one-day-at-time thing. Once I got going, I was living it. I couldnt stop. I didnt weigh myself for a very long time. I followed the plan and I was feeling so much better for it.

My father had one stroke a year starting at the age of 53 until he was 56. He died from complications from the third one at 56. I have 2 older brothers, both of which have had heart by-pass surgeries. The oldest was 44 when he had his and the younger one at 38. My mother lost her battle with breast cancer 15 years ago. As I was losing the weight I realized that I too was at high risk, especially since I was extremely obese and had high blood pressure. I also have allergies, asthma, and hypothyroidism.

I was not exercising, but I knew that I needed to. Throughout my life I have always been heavy and have had exercised induced asthma. After having lost 145 pounds in 1 year and a half time, I decided it was time to join Curves. I remember after my first initial workout at Curves my legs were wobbly due to never having exercised. After over 1000 workouts I have kept at it for the past 4 years.

Since my weight loss and joining Curves my high blood pressure has become normal, my asthma, allergies and hypothyroidism are all under control. In the meantime, Im working hard to maintain my weight and health by working out at Curves.

I enjoy every moment of every workout and will continue to do so FOREVER !

"I am dating Margie's daughter Allison and I met Margie for the first time this last weekend. Allison always told me that her mom was tiny and that she used to be really big, I had not given this much thought. We ate a few meals over the course of Margie's visit to Scottsbluff and it was a small joke between her daughters and herself about her portions and her "pickyness" over what she eats. I assumed it was just something to tease her about as she has a great sense of humor about most everything. Margie was having a hard time getting these photos uploaded so she asked me to help her; myself being a computer tech, I agreed. When I opened my email to get the pictures and upload them I could not believe that the pictures were of the same woman I had just seen the previous weekend. I think her story is amazing and her dedication is astounding."

"I am Margie's daughter, Allison. I can remember all the times that my mom would be doing dishes on any given day and would have to stop to sit down because the pain on her knees was too much, or her back would start to ache. I never really thought my mom was very big, but after she started to lose the weight I could see that it really had been a problem for her. She kept telling us as she lost the weight that she was doing it for us, that she wanted to make sure she was around for us as long as possible. I\'m so glad that she has done so well in her wieght loss, and kept it off for as long as she has. I am now 4 months pregnant, and am glad that my mom is healthy, happy, and here to be my child\'s grandma. I love you mom!!"
