My Story
Hello. My name is Beth Rhoton.I would like to share my story with you. Around 5 1/2 years ago I went to the doctor and found that I had diabetes. I already had high blood pressure, asthma, sleep apnea, arthritis, and other health problems. Most of my problems were due to my poor eating habits and lack of exercise which lead to my obesity. In January 2004, when I was diagnosed with diabetes, I stopped drinking real cokes and replaced it with water. I lost 8 lbs. in one month just with that one change. My doctor then encouraged me to join Weight Watchers, which I did, and I continued to lose weight. After a time, the weight loss started to slow down, so I decided to I needed to add some activity. I drove by Curves all the time and I decided to see what it was all about.I really liked it and I liked the fact it was women only, so I joined in March 2004. The weight began to fall off again. After 4 1/2 years, I had lost 142 lbs. I continue still to go to Curves and Weight Watchers. I have gained back a small portion of the weight I had lost, but I continue to be determined to get it back off again. I will always struggle with my weight and I must keep that drive and determination to keep my lifestyle (activity and eating habits) going in the healthy direction. Healthwise, I have since been able to come off of my diabetes medicine and when my doctor tests me I am always in the non-diabetic range. My aches and pains from my arthritis are pretty much gone, my sleep apnea is much better, and my blood pressure does very well with my medication now. I am determined to get my weight back where I was a few months ago because I do not want to go back to how it was 5 1/2 years ago. I encourage everyone that considers giving up and leaving their healthy lifestyle behind to please not give up and to keep trying. I want to thank the girls at Curves for encouraging me, driving me to keep going, and not giving up on me. It has meant alot to me. I hope my story will help someone reach for their goal. And remember to keep your healthy lifestyle for the rest of your life, because you are worth it. Good luck to everyone.
