My Story
I was a 41 year old mother of three, who had gained 'only a few pounds' a year for the last 15 years. My oldest son was graduating in June 09, and I didn't want to be the 'tubby mommy' in his grad photo's.

I joined Curves and started working out on January 5th of this year weighing 181, at 5"4', and a little skeptical about the 30 second workouts! After four weeks I had lost four pounds, eight weeks, eight pounds, WOW! I had never LOST weight before! But in March I GAINED a pound. I was frustrated, but determined. I joined the Curves Smart and got back on track with the yellow and green lights flashing and pushing me. This got me back on the loosing track, as of July fourth (six months at Curves) I've lost 19 lbs, over 16 inches, 5% body fat, and rather than being a snug size 14, I'm a baggy 12, heading into a 10.

My 18 year old fitness buff son is very supportive and proud, giving me pinches here and there, saying Curves is working mom your way firmer! My 11 year old son commented on my baggy clothes when I tucked him in one evening, "Mom, you must've been chubby, but I didn't even notice it when you were.". And then there's my 14 year old daughter who just cringes when I say that soon we will be the same size and can share clothes. My husband just smiles.

I'm just amazed at how quickly the pounds have come off, but more so at how the shape of my body has changed, with loosing less then 20 lbs. I have not changed my eating habits, but I do work out 5-6 times a week. I'm not sure which is the most rewarding, feeling better these days, or walking into family functions, and having people say "you've lost a lot of weight since Christmas".

I'm a lifer now! I'm planning on keeping up this pace for another 6-10 months, and then slow it down to 3-4 times a week to maintain my weight and muscle tone until I'm 101! I believe Curves monthly fees will be far less then medical costs would be if I kept up the pace of gaining a 'few pounds a year'.
