My Story
Hi - my Curves success story is all about Health, Wellness and Family.

About 3 yrs ago my mom asked me to join Curves with her as her doctor advised she needed some sort of activity to keep her mobilility in the future. She was 70 years old. At that time in my life I was over 220 lbs on a 5ft3inch frame. I definitely needed help with weight loss and good health as my doctor advised that I had the bones of a 50 year old and I was only 40, besides my blood pressure going through the roof! Yo-yo dieting was all I ever knew, which had given me poor health. I didn't really want to join at the time, but I did want my mom to have a better quality of life, as my dad had recently passed away and I didn't want to lose her too. So I joined with my mom.

The 1st day at Curves I was suspicious that the gym would be like every other one. In the past years I had joined numerous 'clubs' but never liked any of them so eventually I would quit going, becoming depressed, fat and unhealthy. That first day at Curves I put up a wall. I didn't want my measurments taken or find out how heavy I was. That would just depress me more to know. But as we went around the circuit with our trainer, it was not so intimidating, and the actual workout was a quick 30 minutes with some stretching. All the other places I had been in the past were at least a grueling 60 minutes or more.

At Curves the employees were happy, pleasant, helpful, courteous, knowledgeable, and fun! The clients were also very upbeat and smiled a lot. It was a very comfortable place to be. After that first session both my mom and I were happy we had joined. We were exhausted and refreshed all at the same time! It kept us going back week after week.

In 2008 I joined a contest thru Curves "Bust your Butt for $1000 bucks". I worked hard for the two months. And as the days went by I seemed to have more and more energy. I eventually started doing more outside of Curves as well. After the contest was over I came in 9th place out of about 125 women! I couldn't believe I got that close! I was so elated that I could never give up going to Curves. It had become my haven. At that point I had lost about 30 lbs since joining, and was feeling better and better.

My mom and I worked out over the next year until Feb 09, which is when I entered the "Bust your Butt for $1000 Bucks" contest again. This time I doubled everything I did the year before, and then some. The end of the contest came and we were all measured. The following Monday I went to Curves to workout and was told that I was the big winner of $1000!!!! I was three feet off the ground that day! Very rewarding in so many ways. I had now lost 40 lbs since joining.

I never looked back after that. Working out every day is my goal. My mom also continues to work out a few days every week. Those are the days I look forward to.
She is now 73. Her doctor recently gave her a clean bill of health, besides the usual arthritis flare-ups. He advised her that Curves is the best place to be and to keep it up because ITS WORKING! Even my high blood pressure has now decreased with my weight. I too look and feel healthier and happier.

Curves is such a wonderful place to be, so I joined yet another contest this summer to win an awesome mountain bike! It was a buddy challenge so I got a partner (the daughter of one of our employees) and when the contest was over I had lost another 9 1/2 inches and 8 lbs in 6 weeks! We are still waiting to see who won the bikes!

Each month I get closer and closer to my goal weight, and now I see the end in sight! To date I have lost over 50 lbs. The best part is that due to my success and excitement at Curves, I was able to convince three other girls in my office to join! I tell everyone how great it is no matter where I go.

I WANT TO TELL THE WORLD ABOUT CURVES!!!
THANK YOU CURVES FOR CHANGING OUR LIVES - WE LOVE YOU!!!
