My Story
In my office I am known as the incredible shrinking woman. I was known as the invisible woman for the last five years due to gaining 100 pounds on to my 56 frame. I made myself invisible because no one saw me. Most of my life I was the fat sister; all four of my sister are small. Some things I have gone through are being embarrassed to ask for the extra piece of the seat belt on the airplane when I visited my mother last year and not wanting to sit at restaurant booths because I could not fit. I was truly miserable. I was spiraling into obesity unconsciousness and death.
I had a membership with 24Hour Fitness and Ballys but I would not go. I was not motivated. I would walk the marina by my apartment but when I found out I had arthritis in my right knee and could not walk far that was the last straw. I paid for my membership with Ballys for four years at $ 35.00 for the first three years and then $24.00 the last year. I thought Curves was too expensive but not going to those other gyms was a waste of money.
The day that changed my life was the day Whitney at Curves gave me a call. She said, Its a great day at Curves. It made me smile. She said come in and I did. I have been at Curves since October 2008. At first the scale did not move for months .I weight over 350 lbs. The month the scale dropped below 350 lbs to 346 lbs I cried. I cried with joy as hard as I was working on losing the weight and for four months nothing. I was getting depressed. Since then I have lost 31 lbs not including the weight the scale did not record. I can not fit any of my clothes they are too big. I have taken in every pair of pants and skirt I own about 2 inches. A few pairs of jeans I had to throw out they were falling off me. I had pants I bought last summer and could not wear. Two months ago I put on a pair of those jeans they fell off me. Another pair I had to take them up about 2 inches on each side.
I like being measured and weighted each month to show my progress and I like the card to let you know what you are doing and how well you are doing. I like to see how my body is changing each month that helps keep me motivated to do more reps and watch what I eat.
I go to workout at Curves 4 day a week no fail. I get encouragement from the owner, staff and all of the women met there. They say I encourage them. We help each other. I am no longer the invisible woman. Curves saved my life. I am grateful. My goal for December of 2009 is to be at 270lbs by 2010 December 155 lbs.
Thanks for reading my story
