My Story
7.5 years ago I had a stroke, losing some of my speech and going though physical therapy I was able to walk again with a walker and regain some of my balance and speak more clearly. I was 52 and soon became quite secluded while recuperating. In 2007, I had a knee replacement yet an other set back. Food was always a good friend, it was always there! When I got married forty years ago I weighted 130 pounds and ballooning up to 304 pounds and I'm only 5 foot tall. My waist and my height were almost the same.
While spending a day with my dear friend Grace she suggested we use a coupon she had for a free week at Curves. After 3 days we were ready to join! I knew this was the beginning of a journey. Since I've been losing weight 39 pounds, 52 inches and 39.65 pounds of body fat! My energy and flexibility are coming back.

Grace and I are walking more now and I not using my walker. Before my stroke we used to walk all the time. We are both getting stronger everyday.

The Curves experience is very encouraging and supportive. The care the staff gives us is another step in our change of life style.

My daughter joined and before long we were our Curves first mother daughter to earn the Curves elite member shirt. This whole experience is a real blessing. Everyone staff and fellow members) are so supportive.

Curves is a wonderful place to be, and great thing to have.

"I joined Curves a couple months after Connie. At that time she still needed assistance getting on and off the machines. I have watched her progress and it is very encouraging to the rest of us. She is always happy, smiling and postive."

"You are awesome. You are not a victim of your circumstances, you are a champion of adversity."

"I am Connie's husband. I have seen her progress from not wanting to go anywhere because of lack of energy to one with so much energy I am struggleing to keep up with her. Connie finds a way to make it to Curves 6 days a week and is determined to keep improving her health. I am very proud of her!!"
