My Story
So many times I would pass Curves in Nash, Texas as I would be going to and from my home. I would always wonder if I could benefit from going there. I had been sick for four years now suffering from chronic nerve damage due to brain surgery and a shunt in my head to drain the fluid properly. It is a slow process of healing and takes a long time to get on your feet. The whole process is so stressful, dealing with issues of disability, insurance and doctors, quitting work, medicines and getting used to not feeling well anymore. There are so many changes in your life. You are so embarrassed that you can't do half of what you used to do anymore. It seems the side effects to nearly all of the medicines are weight gain. I put on 60 pounds in two years. My feet and ankles were so hughe and hurt so bad.
I dodged people so I wouldn't have to talk to them. I just felt so bad about myself. Then a friend at my church started talking about how much she enjoyed going to curves and how she was loosing weight and inches. I could tell that it was working on her. Well , I said but it might make this nerve damage hurt worse, you know this pins and needles and burning . She said , Well just come on by and talk to one of the trainers.
