My Story
MORE THAN A GYM, IT'S LIKE MEDICINE!!!
When life becomes difficult, it's so easy to find comfort in alochol or a prescription from your GP. I am one of those women that never had a weight problem but over the past year that horrilbe word MENOPAUSE has reared it's ugly head and I am 15 lbs heavier than I should be. Not a big deal because I'm still not over weight, but I would like to lose the belly rolls. Menopause is bad enough with the hot flashes and all but when your 16 year old child comes to you for help because he is addicted to escasty, all the large problems in your life seem so small. My stress level was at an all time high and I just didn't know how I was going to make it through the most difficult obstacle life had thrown at me. I have endured alcoholism, suicide, separation, bankruptcy, parental death and lots of bad relationships and I made it, but when your child is hurting, you hurt more. My heart was shattered and I was very, very close to falling apart or being put in a straight jacket. I joined curves six years ago after my Mom died and I couldn't have made a better decision for a way to relieve stress. The only reason I stopped being a curves member was because I joined Tae Kwon Doe with my kids and I was getting enough exercise and cardio. After weeks of enduring sleepless nights, verbal abuse, anger and buckets of tears, I knew I had to do something to keep my sanity and I remembered how great I felt when I was a curves member. SO DUHH, I joined again. In two months I have lost 5 pounds and several inches but most importantly, I am sleeping again and my mental health is recovering. Thanks to the wonderful staff and other members for the welcoming smiles, the nudge of encouragement, and the glass of cheer (water of course, LOL)I am doing great, and hey, I'm sure going to look good while I manage my sanity. Three times a week, for 30 minutes, I don't have a problem or care in the world. Exercise is the key to solve many problems and preventive medicine for our bodies as we age, and I can't imagaine a better place than curves to keep my body and mind strong. THANK YOU LADIES!!!
