My Story
When I walked in to Curves in January 2008, I weighed my heaviest, 340 pounds. I had no energy, could not walk well, had back and knee pain and generally felt about 20 years older than my 53 years. I had seen a photo taken at my granddaughter's first birthday party two months before that, and I realized I was not going to live to see her grow up if I did not take control of my lifestyle. I thought, like so many others, that I really "did not eat much", I did not eat breakfast or snacks. I had no idea what a portion consisted of, I had grown up with a grandmother who fed us the biggest portions of everything and anything and I loved to eat pasta, potatoes, bread, all the things that piled on the weight. I drank a huge glass of orange juice every day that I thought was very good for me, not knowing anything about the calorie content. But the day I joined Curves was the day I changed my life and lifestyle. Today, after 17 months later, I weigh 212 and have a goal of 170 which I am hoping to reach by the end of this year. I have had a couple of setbacks this year, because I had two eye surgeries which limited my workouts but I am back at Curves and back on track. I feel like my transformation has helped alot of others who say they have followed my example. That is worth a lot to me, as I do strive to help others whenever I can.
