My Story
In late 2006 at the age of 62 I weighed in excess of 230 pounds with elevated cholesterol levels. Not wanting to take medication to lower my cholesterol I decided to follow the orders written by my doctor across the bottom of the lab report I had received 30 MINUTES OF EXERCISE DAILY. Not being a person of self dicipline to exercise on my own I began to consider a place to go. I knew if I paid to go to a place for exercise I would do it, I had heard of Curves and how good it was. Since all this was taking place during the holiday season I determined to start after the first of the new year..How ever this decision was to be delayed due to some unexpedted health problems which landed me in the local hospitial for a month causing me to loose down to 208 in one month- not a healthy way to loose weight.

In April 2007,after gaining back 12 healthy pounds as well as my strength, I got clearance from my doctor to start an exercise program.. It was during this month that our local Curves was running a 2for 1 menbership drive. I approached my grandaughter to go with me and she readily agreed especially when the location was so close to where we lived. We could go first thing in the morning, excercise, come home and get ready for school and work. We go together, encourage each other, and have our on little unofficial contest as to who beat who at curves smart.
The staff and the friendship of the early morning group is encouraging. To date I have lost 19 pounds and 7 inches. My clothes don't fit any more. I no loner wear 22w or 2xl sizes I wear 18w and large sizes some mediums too.
Although my weight is not where I want it to be I am contiually being told that I am loosing a lot of weight . I have trimed down a lot and am making wise food choices as well as watching the calories.
Thanks Curves I couldn't have done it with out you
