My Story
I joined Curves weighing 207 lbs and in hopes to prevent being diagnosed with high blood pressure like by sister. Curves offered me a double program to help get my weight down, manage stress and keep my blood pressure down.
I attended Curves 3 times a week and enjoyed it immensely. I made lots of friends and always looked forward to going. Each month I had my weigh in and saw my weight and inches dropping. I was thrilled and after six months I had lost 32.5 lbs and 23.75 inches.
DEFINING MOMENT: I arrived home from the gym one morning full of energy and began to clean the house when all of a sudden my hand, arms and legs went lifeless. I had the presence of mind to call 911 and told them that I had thought I had suffered a stroke. It was confirmed at the hospital that I indeed suffered a stroke, but within 10 hrs I gradually gained some mobility to my limbs.
Doctors were amazed and had numerous questions regarding my lifestyle, more specifically exercise and activity. I told them I had been working out at Curves lost 33 lbs and reduced my body fat. Their response was "Peggy, by doing this, your body is in good physical condition and you can hope to have a full recovery.
I had a check up six weeks later and my doctor told me to return to Curves as soon as I felt ready. So, I returned immediately and slowly returned to my regular routine. I have now lost a total of 52.5 lbs and 41.75 inches. My deepest gratitude to the staff at Curves. Thanks to all of you for your support and encouragement. In March I turned 71 yrs and am still enjoying going to Curves for my "Social time of day" with all the members. Thanks Curves once again.
