My Story
I joined Curves in June of 2004. I must confess, I went only because my friend conned me into going with her since Curves was having their "Two for One" special where two people could join for the price of one. And while I didn't personally seek out going to Curves, joining was one of THE BEST decisions I've ever made for myself. I was unhappy with my current job, overweight, and hadn't exercised in a long, long time. I needed Curves. It gave me a place to work out without feeling self-conscious, it gave me camaraderie, it gave me a weight management program to help me reach my goals, and it gave me my self confidence back. I won't lie and say it's all been bed of roses, I've had my struggles. But one thing has always been a constant...I have gained SO MUCH STRENGTH!!! I know most people share their weight loss stories, or how they are no longer on certain medications, but I want to share how I became physically stronger.

I'll never forget my first day on the circuit. There were all these women (some much older than me - no offense ladies) and they made the workout look so effortless. I was so excited to begin...and then I realized "Hey! This wasn't as easy as those ladies made it look!" I felt a little foolish that I was having so much trouble, but I vowed to work hard and improve. I did just that - I continued to work hard and work out faithfully. (Minus the 3 month hiatus in 2007...Like I said...I had some struggles). I thought I was working out as hard as I could...that is...until I started the Curves Smart program in June of 2008. A few months after I started it, I was moved to the endurance program. This program has pushed me to become a much stronger woman. I am so proud of how far I've come. I started out burning somewhere in the 400's for calories per workout. As of today, I burn an average of 750 calories or more each workout and I am only 5 PI points away from my goal of 500. I'm almost there! Yippie!!! (Goal Achieved: Current PI is 502 - I'm a happy camper!)
