My Story
Hi,
My daughter Jane and I have been members at Curves for just over 6 years. In 2003 I was feeling rather unfit and overweight and was also looking for a venue that would work for Jane as well. Jane is a wonderful 37 year old woman with Down Syndrome, and just like many of us has problems with weight. Over the years we had tried to find the right mix....trying fitness clubs, water fitness programs, personal trainers and even hypnosis. Nothing seemed to work and be enjoyable at the same time for Jane. Once I heard about Curves we decided to try it. We attended together, I would pick Jane up at work then we would excerise together and I would drive Jane back to her apt. In 2004 Curves on Canotek opened and as it was closer to us, we switched our membership. Over the 6 years we have both lost inches and pounds...Jane is very committed to her program and is at Curves 3 times a week with our without me. Jane has also joined a walking program in Orleans and does that 2-3 times a week. I have taken an additional direction and have started running, and now at age 62 ...have completed 6 10km races and 2 half marathons. I really believe Curves got us going in the right direction and is keeping us strong and on track. This week I asked Jane what she likes about Curves. After a moment or two she said,"'burning calories, the music and feeling comfortable". Those last two words speak volumes........Thank you Curves.

"Whenever I see Jane at Curves, she is obviously enjoying her workout. She is so dedicated and comes rain or shine. It always reminds me that my own excuses that sometimes I don't have time or don't feel like exercising are very weak indeed and that like Jane I should be putting my health first regardless of what circumstances I may be facing. Way to go Lynn and Jane! "
