My Story
Sometimes you can have a dream and not even know it. I thought my dreams were just like everyone else's dreams. You know the ones....win the lottery.....vacation at an all-inclusive resort in the Bahamas.....find the perfect zero-calorie dessert....yep, just your ordinary everyday dreams.

Little did I know that my real dream was to find a kick-butt workout that I would love. Why would anyone in their right mind have a dream like that? Well, as it turns out, it was my dream but I just didn't know it. At least I didn't know it until I walked into Curves. Curves has three very important things that I think every workout establishment should have. It has a supportive staff, no mirrors around the circuit, and no set workout schedule. With Curves you can walk in at 3:23 p.m., plant yourself on a recovery board and start the circuit. No more, "Oh, darn, I missed the 4:00 class....guess I'll have to go home..." So, after taking all of this in, I told the gal at the counter to "sign me up."

I have now been a Curves member for 4 years. I started out at 137 pounds and then did something that probably a lot of women do. I thought since I was working out three times a week that I could eat whatever I wanted. Well, as it turns out, that wasn't such a great idea. I think I knew that my weight had spiked because I ignored my weigh-in reminders when I checked in. But then one day I got up the nerve and asked to be weighed and measured. When I stepped on the scale, I found that my weight had escalated to 147 pounds and I had gained almost 5 inches in places that on closer inspection didn't look so good. I could feel a tear squeezing out of the corner of my eye. Darn it! Where was that zero-calorie dessert when you needed it? So, after I wiped away the tear, I resolved to do something about the weight I had gained and the inches I had added. I realized that working out was only the first step to good health. It was time to not only take note of what I was eating but also how much of it I was eating. Thinking back, I should have realized all of this sooner because exercising and eating right are what Curves is all about. I had heard it from the Curves Team many, many times but I hadn't listened. Now I was listening and it wasn't long before everything fell naturally into place and I started seeing results.

After two months, I was back down to 137 pounds and thought that my dream had been fulfilled. I was in a "normal" weight range for my height and age and was feeling pretty darn good. Plus, I still loved my workout. In fact, I didn't think my Curves workout could get any better. Wouldn't you know, just as I thought that, Curves came out with the SMART machines. All I can say is "Wow, Wow, Wow!" Curves found a way to make their workout even better. Now, after one year on the SMART machines, I'm down to 131 pounds and I have lost a total of 11.75 inches from my body. I went from a size 10 to a size 4. The SMART machines have sculpted my body in a way I never thought possible. Working out with the SMART machines is like having a personal trainer, three times a week. I won't kid you, the SMART workout is not easy. In fact, it kicks my butt. I sweat - and I usually never sweat. I use the recovery board to do exactly that...recover. When my key card says it time to cool down, I almost cry with relief. Is it worth it? Oh, yes. Curves has given me a new life - a younger and healthier life. I am actually looking forward to my 50th birthday next month because I feel so great! Would I trade this workout for the winning lottery ticket or the all-inclusive vacation in the Bahamas? How about that zero-calorie dessert? The simple and easy answer is no.

Who would have thought that a kick-butt workout would be my dream. But it was, still is and always will be. Make Curves your dream. It will change your life in an amazing way!
