My Story
I was born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark and came to the U.S.A. in 1958 after I had met my love, a U.S. soldier. We had 4 children, 2 girls, 2 boys, and when they were in their teens, I got my degree as an R.N. and worked until I retired in 2002. My husband became sick and passed away shortly afterwards, and I felt so alone and gained weight. I got sick and had to have a colonoscopy and colon resection. Infections set in and I was laid up for 4 months and finally felt a little better. I went to another Dr. and he told me I should have another colon resection because the previous one was botched. This time it went better, but I was still depressed. I was watching tv one day and Curves came on and I wondered if I could do that, so I went to my Dr. and he gave the ok. I had diabetes and arthritis. The next day I wwent down to Curves and they welcomed me like I was a long lost friend. After six months I went back to my Dr. and he said that I had lost 18 pounds, my sugar and blood pressure were down to normal and I got off the pills for my arthritis. He said that Curves saved my life and to keep going. I never thought I could feel so good. People I meet that I haven't seen in a while ask if I had plastic surgery. I have changed not just outside but also on the inside and have met the most wonderful people in the world. We all have the same problem and all want to get back in shape and that makes us friends. Thank you, Curves, from all my heart!
